Sor Rungvisai set to defend title against Diaz, Oct. 6

Sor Rungvisai will putting his strap on the line in Bangkok.

WBC junior bantamweight titleholder Srisaket Sor Rungvisai has his next official outing on schedule where he’ll be defending his green belt against Iran Diaz in Bangkok on October 6. Sor Rungvisai (46-4-1, 41 KOs) is most recently coming off of a victory lap fight over Young Gil Bae in July which followed two wins over Roman Gonzalez and one over Juan Francisco Estrada.

“I am excited to showcase my skills at home in Bangkok. As a world champion boxer, this is a rare opportunity for me to be able to compete in front of my people,” Sor Rungvisai said. “I will do my best to retain my title. I am very deep in preparations right now for one of the most significant bouts of my career.”

His opponent, Diaz (14-2-3, 6 KOs), has yet to face anyone of the quality of Sor Rungivisai thus far in his career, but will be looking to make his mark in this fight. Diaz says he’s more than ready to step into enemy territory to face a champion in front of his home fans but that will have to prove itself out once the bell rings.

This Oct. 6 card, which will be promoted by One Championship, will also feature a mix of combat sports including Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, and MMA, which is not something you see everyday.
