Daniel Jacobs: I’d knock Canelo out

Daniel Jacobs spoke after the Canelo-GGG rematch about the fight and his desire to face Canelo.

Middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs, who returns October 27 in a vacant title fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko on HBO, was in attendance on Saturday night in Las Vegas, when Canelo Alvarez narrowly defeated Gennady Golovkin.

Jacobs, of course, had a couple things to say.

“Good fight. I thought GGG won (by) two rounds, at least, I think. I don’t know, it’s just, I’m not — I wasn’t being biased, but I felt like Golovkin was a lot busier than Canelo,” he said. “Even though Canelo still had his spurts where he looked good and there was a lot of close rounds. People say it could’ve went either way. I gotta go back to the tape, really review it, really study it, and make my decision then. But off my initial reaction, I thought Golovkin one.”

Asked about wanting to see a trilogy, he laughed and said, “Come on, hell no, I don’t want no trilogy, man! Let me get my opportunity!”

Jacobs (34-2, 29 KO) was then asked about potentially facing Canelo, and he put out a clear message.

“I’d stop Canelo, I’d knock Canelo out. It don’t matter what round. Put him in there and I’ll knock him out,” Jacobs said.
