McGregor Roasts Gastelum For Pretending To Be Champ: ‘There Are Worms Crawling On His Skin!’
After seeing his main event title fight scrapped after middleweight champion Robert Whittaker needed emergency hernia surgery, top contender Kelvin Gastelum still decided to walk around UFC 234 last night (Sat., Feb. 9, 2019) with a championship belt over his shoulder.
Gastelum is obviously not the UFC’s 185-pound king, although he could have been if UFC 234’s headliner stayed in tact, but that didn’t stop the former Ultimate Fighter winner from pretending he won gold. Gastelum explained his decision when speaking with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto backstage:

Surprisingly, UFC superstar Conor McGregor weighed in on the situation and absolutely decimated Gastelum for his belt-wearing ways. “Notorious” also took some shots at a skin condition that Gastelum has been battling all week.
Why is that worm holding the 185lb belt? There are worms crawling on his skin! It was absolutely ludicrous to even consider allowing him to compete. Let alone now walk around the arena shaking our fans hands.
Someone sort this, this instant. And sterilize that belt.

“Why is that worm holding the 185lb belt?” wrote McGregor. “There are worms crawling on his skin! It was absolutely ludicrous to even consider allowing him to compete. Let alone now walk around the arena shaking our fans hands. Someone sort this, this instant. And sterilize that belt. Immediately.”
Damn. McGregor really doesn’t have a filter. Colby Covington would be proud.
McGregor’s twitter fingers were slamming the keyboard pretty hard last night, as the former UFC champion paid respect to Anderson Silva with a good old call out, but this his attack on Gastelum was easily the most aggressive.
Gastelum just can’t seem to win this weekend.
