Crane Collapses On UFC Star's Home

Crane Collapses On UFC Star's Home

Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 28 winner Macy Chiasson is lucky to be alive after a construction crane collapsed on her apartment in Dallas, Texas, last Sunday (June 9, 2019). During a storm in the DFW area, winds reached up to 80 miles per hour, attributing to the collapse of the crane.

Unfortunately, one person was killed in the accident, while several were injured, including Chiasson herself who cut her foot on broken glass as she tried to make away from danger with her do in tow.

“I heard a little bit of something, and I was like, ‘There’s no way that they’re doing construction right now on a Sunday,’” Chiasson told TMZ (via Yahoo! Finance). “All of the sudden, when I said that to myself, I heard a loud boom. I could hear, whatever it was, kind of falling through the ceiling floor by floor. Once I heard that, I called my dog … and we ran out.”

According to NBC FDW, the apartment building has been shut down and all tenants have been evacuated leaving them – Macy included – without a place to stay. Furthermore, an investigation is underway, with the news outlet reporting that Bigge Crane and Rigging – owner of the equipment — was cited on 18 occasions by OSHA over the last 10 Years.

Chiasson has filed a lawsuit against the apartment building as well as Bigge Crane and Rigging, citing lack of having proper safety protocols in place by the complex. The suit also claims that that the crane company failed to properly maintain and inspect the piece of equipment.

“No one was prepared for anything,” Chiasson said. “People were in their underwear, they had several people that were completely covered in debris and dust and bleeding. It was terrible. I’ve completely lost everything. I don’t have anything. I have literally this shirt, a pair of shoes and shorts that I have on. I have nothing but my dog. Everything’s gone.”

Chiason is currently 5-0 as a professional, winning all three of her fights inside the Octagon, including her win over Sarah Moras at UFC Fight Night 151 earlier this month. UFC has provided Chiasson with equipment, clothes and various other items as she prepares to make a temporary move back to Louisiana.
