Farmer-Frenois official for July 27th
Frenois is Farmer’s mandatory challenger
As expected, Tevin Farmer will defend his IBF super featherweight title against mandatory challenger Guillaume Frenois on July 27th as part of the Maurice Hooker-Jose Ramirez card in Arlington, TX. The bout will be Farmer’s fifth in the last 12 months and his fourth title defense.
Frenois (46-1-1, 12 KO) has not tasted defeat since a 2013 loss to former title challenger Devis Boschiero, but has spent the last six-ish years feasting on subpar competition in his native France. His efforts were enough to land him a final eliminator opposite Jono Carroll, which wound up complicating things by ending up a draw.
Farmer (29-4-1, 6 KO) went on to fight Carroll, whom he had pre-existing beef with, in March, defeating the Irishman by decision in Farmer’s home town of Philadelphia. He’d previously scored successful defenses against James Tennyson and Francisco Fonseca after defeating man of the hour Billy Dib for the vacant belt.
The card, which airs on DAZN, also features Murat Gassiev’s (26-1, 19 KO) heavyweight debut opposite Joey Dawejko (19-7-4, 11 KO).
