Stevens, Negron, Hardy join Aug. 3rd PBC undercard
Brooklyn’s Barclays Center hosts the event
Premier Boxing Champions’ August 3rd FOX tripleheader will feature some recognizable names on its undercard, including former middleweight contender Curtis Stevens, Puerto Rican Olympian Carlos Negron, and Brooklyn’s own Heather “The Heat” Hardy.
Stevens (30-6, 22 KO), fighting for the first time since a stoppage of Carlos Rafael Cruz last July, makes his super welterweight debut against durable PBC regular Wale Omotoso (27-4, 21 KO). Stevens has fought just four times in nearly five years, going 3-1 with a horrific knockout loss to David Lemieux in 2017, and faces a decent test here; Omotoso never really panned out, but he’s found a niche for himself as a prospect checker and has never been stopped.
Omotoso was last seen dropping a decision to Chordale Booker on the Trout-Gausha undercard.
Negron (20-2, 16 KO) saw a seven-win, seven-KO streak come to an end in December courtesy of a Dominic Breazeale overhand right. Opponent Brian Howard (14-3, 11 KO) is a lifelong cruiserweight who successfully made 175 for a 2018 fight with Umar Salamov, has lost two of his last three, and got KO’d by 12-19-1 Harvey Jolly in 2012.
Hardy (22-0, 4 KO), who fights genderfluid icon TBA, has been juggling boxing and MMA for the last couple of years. She claimed the WBO featherweight belt in October, then got ground-and-pounded into submission in the Bellator cage by Taylor Turner last month.
The show, headlined by Chris Arreola vs. Adam Kownacki, also features Andre Berto vs. Miguel Cruz and serial domestic abuser Marcus Browne against former light heavyweight champ Jean Pascal.
