Turchi-McCarthy set for Oct. 11

The cruiserweights will meets in the main event from Trento, Italy.

Unbeaten Italian cruiserweight Fabio Turchi has become a regular name on Matchroom Italy cards on DAZN, and he returns to those airwaves on Oct. 11 in Trento, Italy, facing the United Kingdom’s Tommy McCarthy in a 12-round main event.

Turchi (17-0, 13 KO) is a 26-year-old prospect from Florence who has pretty well dominated his opposition to date, fighting mostly in Italy but also coming to the U.S. in Dec. 2017 for a win in Providence, Rhode Island.

In his last two outings, which were meant to be steps up, he’s knocked out Tony Conquest (KO-7) and Sami Enbom (KO-1) without a whole lot of trouble.

The 28-year-old McCarthy (15-2, 8 KO) has losses to Matty Askin in 2016 and Richard Riakporhe in March of this year, the latter a fourth round stoppage. He went to Italy for his last fight on July 11, stopping late replacement opponent Francesco Cataldo after two rounds, so the Italian hardcore fans do know him at least a little bit.

The show will also feature the return of European middleweight champion Kamil Szeremeta (20-0, 4 KO), a 29-year-old Polish fighter whose name has been connected in the past with Gennadiy Golovkin. It was said by the Golovkin camp that Szeremeta turned down fights with GGG when they were looking for opponents. He’ll defend against Matteo Signani (28-5-3, 10 KO), a 40-year-old Italian veteran who fought for the same belt back in 2016, losing a split decision to countryman Emanuele Blandamura.

Featherweights Francesco Grandelli (12-1-1, 2 KO) and Reece Bellotti (14-2, 12 KO) will also square off in a 10-round fight.
