Williams is ranked #7 by the WBO, Fox #1
Liam Williams’ “very meaningful” fight on the December 21st Daniel Dubois-Kyotaro Fujimoto undercard will, in fact, be very meaningful. Frank Warren revealed yesterday that “The Machine” is set to face Alantez Fox in a final eliminator for a crack at Demetrius Andrade.
I will face @slyazafox in a final eliminator for the WBO world middleweight title on December 21st…
Cannot wait time wipe the floor with this rat and get my shot to become WORLD… https://t.co/hH17pmrVJx

The two had been trading social media beef for a while, so this isn’t terribly unexpected. It is, however, a better fight than the main event. Williams (21-2-1, 16 KO) has been on a tear since his pair of losses to Liam Smith, knocking out five straight and claiming the British middleweight title with a stoppage of then-unbeaten Mark Heffron. Fox (26-1-1, 12 KO), who’s taller than Williams by half a foot, has won three of his own following a loss to Andrade in 2017. Though Williams unquestionable has the stronger résumé, Fox’s proportions make him a headache for just about anyone at 160.
The WBO currently has Williams at #7 and Fox at #1.
The ESPN+ card also features Sunny Edwards vs. Marcel Braithwaite for the British super flyweight title and the return of Tommy Fury against TBA.
