Showtime, PBC on FOX, WBSS, more: Boxing fight times and TV schedule for October 13-14

It’s a busy weekend in boxing, with plenty of notable action in the ring.

Friday, October 13

Sky Sports Action (UK), 3:00 pm ET, Jason Cunningham vs Reece Bellotti, Charlie Edwards vs Matthew Chanda. Cunningham is defending the Commonwealth featherweight title, while Edwards is defending the British super flyweight title.

ESPN Deportes, 10:00 pm ET, Fidel Maldonado Jr vs Ismael Barroso, Pablo Cesar Cano vs Marcelino Nicolas Lopez. If nothing else, these fights should be fun to watch. Maldonado-Barroso pits a couple flawed guys who can punch at 140, and Cano is usually fun to watch, too. An undercard stream on WatchESPN.com will begin at 8:30 pm ET. BLH will have live coverage.

TyC Sports (ARG), 10:00 pm ET, Leonela Paola Yudica vs Yunoka Furukawa, Mauro Maximiliano Godoy vs Damian Leonardo Yapur.

Telemundo, 11:35 pm ET, Daniel Lozano vs Ricardo Rodriguez, Teofimo Lopez vs Angel Sarinana, Antonio Vargas vs Miguel Angel Rebullosa.

Saturday, October 14

ITV Box Office (UK), 2:00 pm ET, George Groves vs Jamie Cox. The World Boxing Super Series rolls on, with Groves defending the WBA super middleweight title against Cox, the winner advancing to the tournament semifinal to defend against Chris Eubank Jr, who smashed Avni Yildirim this weekend. Promoters aren’t really paying for undercards (understandably) in this tournament, so the most interesting thing beneath the main event is a fight between John Ryder and Patrick Nielsen. BLH will have live coverage.

FOX, 7:30 pm ET, Leo Santa Cruz vs Chris Avalos, Abner Mares vs Andres Gutierrez. Neither of these fights are what anyone hoped for next from Santa Cruz and Mares, who took these fights instead of facing one another for a second time, with the idea, in theory, to do more build to a rematch in 2018. We’ll see. BLH will have live coverage.

SHO, 10:00 pm ET, Jermell Charlo vs Erickson Lubin, Erislandy Lara vs Terrell Gausha, Jarrett Hurd vs Austin Trout. Three world title fights at 154 pounds, two of them interesting on paper. Combined with the PBC card, it’s a full night of boxing, and Groves-Cox should pretty much lead us right into the FOX card, too. BLH will have live coverage.

TyC Sports (ARG), 10:00 pm ET, Omar Narvaez vs Nikolai Potapov

Azteca (MEX), 11:30 pm ET, Irma Sanchez vs Brenda Ramos, Carlos Diaz Ramirez vs Emanuel Lopez.
