Crolla: I’d love to try my luck against Lomachenko

Anthony Crolla is shooting his shot.

Anthony Crolla is hoping to get back into the world title picture at lightweight, and the 31-year-old veteran says he’d like to test himself against Vasyl Lomachenko, who just won the WBA “world” title by beating Jorge Linares, who beat Crolla twice.

“All I would say is that Lomachenko is an unbelievable fighter, a future all-time great, and you always want to share the ring with the best of your generation. I’d love to try my luck against him. He has openly said he wants to fight in the UK so, in that sense, you’d say it would either be against myself or [Luke] Campbell. I’m by no means saying I deserve a shot, but if he wants to fight in England, I could be the man. I know there’s no chance of it in USA.”

You have to love the humbleness of Crolla, who admits he’s not exactly a top contender at the moment, but does see an opportunity if Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KO) wanted to test the waters in the United Kingdom, which is a hot place for boxing right now.

I don’t think anyone would see Crolla (33-6-3, 13 KO) as a big test for Lomachenko, either, but hey, everyone can dream.
