K-1 Japan put forth another solid effort this weekend with their Super Bantamweight (55kg) tournament that saw Yoshiki Takei walk away victorious in the eight-man field with a decision victory in the finals over Kenji Kubo. Takei pulled off a TKO victory over Antonio Orden in the quarterfinals, followed by a first round TKO of Keisuke Ishida to lock his position in the finals. Kubo defeated Suen Takchuen in the quarters and knocked out Nobuchika Terado in the semi-finals to lock in his place before he fell to Takei. <\/p>\n

Kaew Weerasakreck defended his Super Lightweight title against the very tough Hideaki Yamazaki with a decision victory while Takeru provided that trademark Takeru violence against a very game Victor Saravia, putting Saravia down in the third round. Saravia was relatively fearless, in the second round the two taunting each other, wagging tongues in the other’s direction before they both just threw down in a crazy exchange to finish out the round. The action kicked off quickly in the third, Saravia landing a left hook only to wake Takeru up and somehow make him more aggressive. An unintentional low blow to Takeru left a brief pause in the action before Takeru’s left hand starting to hit its target. Saravia became more tentative and it was only a matter of time before a Takeru flurry sent him reeling, with a right and left connecting while Saravia’s body went limp and fell to the canvas. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
